My immediate family moved to Montreal,, Que., Canada in 1948. I went to Concordia University, but I failed to get my commerce degree, because I felt that my father, Jacob, needed me to join him in running his knitting plant, Minto Knit Inc.When he died, in 1969, I took over, but I went bankrupt soon after! After the bankruptcy I decided to re-enter the knitting trade, by going into partnership with Jedwab.
Eventually, Scarves & Allied Arts, made me an offer to buy out Jedwab’s part of the business, and offered me 25%. When, Mr. Melnick, the owner, tired of the then current situation, I found a buyer for it. Calco, a very bad choice, on my part!! Again, when this arrangement went sour, I then, went to work for Canadian Sports & Marketing, a “premiums house.”
